If I had to label this group to fit into a genre it would have to be: Tim Burton Disney Metal! Sound odd? It is. The band consists of three Russian dudes and they play a form of metal that could be the soundtrack to a Tim Burton movie. The songs are fantasy-based and slightly cartoonish, but heavy and drenched with traditional metal and power metal elements along with choir arrangements and orchestrations. The band members did everything except the mastering and artwork for this album, so they're very talented to say the least.
I believe this is a concept album; reading through the booklet — which is laid out like a comic book — makes it seem so, but I know very little about this band so I could be wrong. The CD has a sort of witches and wizards, ghosts and goblins theme, but it's not dark and twisted. If you saw this in the store, you'd find it hard to believe that it's a metal album and not a soundtrack to some childrens' fantasy movie (especially with the back layed out like movie credits).
Still, don't be turned off by this description because this CD is very good! The songs can sometimes be a little on the average side, but for the most part it's very enjoyable, and more importantly, it is different! This is a rarity in the metal world, it's unique! This may be hard to find for most people, but I got mine through The End Records so it is available if you really want it. You should at least check them out. It's worth it.
