REVIEW: Megadeth - Rust in peace Capitol Records, 1990
9/10
Megadeth - Rust in peace - cover art Again Megadeth has changed their line-up but now it's for good (almost...) - drummer Chuck Behler has been replaced by Nick Menza and Jeff Young on guitars by Marty Friedman. Now you can also really see Megadeth changing and developing. This record is a lot more well done than the first three releases - the sounds quality is better, the music is well composed, the vocals are better. The real Megadeth is now beginning to take form but the music is still very fast and melodic but not as heavy as for example Metallica and the vocals are exceptionally well done by Mustaine. Dave Mustaine doesn´t just do the vocals - he also composes most of the music (some of it together with the bass guitarist David Ellefson) and produced the album together with Mike Clink. The lyrics are also pretty good, critisizing wars and the military, religious fanaticism and the devastation of our earth. This is definitely Megadeth's best release so far and it's finally long enough to be worth buying as a full-prize CD...
