REVIEW: Megadeth - Youthanasia Capitol Records, 1994
9.5/10
Megadeth - Youthanasia - cover art This is an album dedicated to all the sad-hearted young people on earth, especially those who has been let down in any way or been left outside by the society. The lyrics are mostly about human emotions of different kinds - violent anger, suicide, incest, bitterness of being let down but there are also some religious thoughts shining through on this album. The lyrics have matured a lot from the first releases of Megadeth and are now rather good. When it comes to the music it's as always very melodic and fast metal coming from Megadeth with Dave Mustaine's great vocals lifting it up. This album is however clearly heavier and perhaps a little slower than the previous one and is probably the heaviest of Megadeth's releases of all time. The final track is an interesting one since the lyrics of it contains the names of lots of earlier Megadeth songs. Unusually long recording from Megadeth filled with first-class aggressive speed metal with great melodies and vocals - could it be better than that?
