REVIEW: Mendeed - The Dead Live By Love Nuclear Blast, 2007
8/10
Mendeed - The Dead Live By Love - cover art When Glasgow based Mendeed released their first Nuclear Blast album "This War Will Last Forever" less than a year ago I was mighty impressed. My opinion of the band has definitely not changed since I got to hear their upcoming disc "The Dead Live By Love" where they continue to make their voice heard as one of the world's leading bands of their genre. Mixing traditional hardcore screams with genre characterizing breakdowns, fine Swedish styled melodeath melodies alongside more modern influences such as soaring guitar solos almost DragonForce style and well performed clean vocals they create music for the future which sounds both fresh and exciting. Mendeed may be young but their talent and killer skills have already been spread around the world as they have supported well established acts such as Cradle Of Filth and Slayer on stage. I would have preferred a slightly more aggressive and more massive production but I guess you can't have it all. Perhaps this is what Children Of Bodom would sound like if they wanted to partner up with the metalcore genre? No matter what, Mendeed is a name you should remember if you fancy melodic death metal and / or metalcore.
