REVIEW: Meschalina - Something 2 Die 4 Self-financed, 2003
3/10
Meschalina - Something 2 Die 4 - cover art Meschalina says they play Electro RapCore but to me it sounds more Nu-metal (Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit etc.) with a slightly more interesting starting point, 'cos they have no live drummer (and that to me is a bonus in this type of music, however the drums are very much live like which is somewhat of a minus). So it could be very good but as the record moves from the title song it starts sounding a bit half-assed and thin. This sort of music demands some level of aggression and a sense of danger which is lacking in here. The songs are too airy and there's too much loose stuff around and the rapper doesn't seem to get his rage out. Live on stage they'll propably rock the house and be a whole different story but on record this doesn't do much. A tighter songwriting and a dash of anger could do it but at this stage it's too clean and happy to these ears.
