REVIEW: Metalium - State Of Triumph: Chapter Two Massacre Records, 2000
8/10
Metalium - State Of Triumph: Chapter Two - cover art This cd mysteriously appeared on my stereo one day when I returned home from band rehearsal. Turns out a kid in my neighborhood thought I would dig it, so I gave it a listen and... (insert angelic voices here) “Lo and Behold”, it was metal! Here is yet another classic / speed German metal band that plays their arses off. These cats wail! And they rarely let up. This is a concept album but even though I don't really understand the full story involved I get the gist. Maybe they weren't really concerned with telling a grand story and that's fine with me. I would rather hear a well written song than music and lyrics that was wrapped around a cumbersum storyline. The cd does bog down to an anticlimatic end with some ballads that really seem out of place with the previous works, but hey, that's what the remote control is for. In short, I would stand in the rain to see these guys at a festival.
