This is a unique Metallica recording - 27 cover versions from
Metallica's early days before the Kill 'em all album and some new
recordings. The covers are mostly from the old classic metal bands but there
are also cover versions of songs by Bob Seger and Queen. Some of the best
songs from the history of metal music are covered by Metallica on this
recording - Sabbra cadabra by Black Sabbath and Astronomy by Blue Oyster Cult
- and as you might expect the Metallica versions are a lot better than the
original ones. The first disc with new recordings is a very good one but
unfortunately the second disc with old recordings is not as good, although
it's not bad. If you already have all of Metallica's albums you would
definitely also want this one - otherwise you will miss some of the best
covers ever made by a metal band.
