REVIEW: Misdemeanor - Misdemeanor Muse Entity Records, 2002
8.5/10
Misdemeanor - Misdemeanor - cover art Misdemeanor is a Swedish band that has existed way back since 1992 but it is only now, ten years later, that they have been given the chance to release their debut album. Hard work finally pays off because this is one of the strongest debuts of the year so far in my opinion. These five young women from Stockholm finally prove to the world the fact that girls are just as good musicians as boys and this time even better. Misdemeanor perform high standard stoner rock, heavily influenced by Black Sabbath but also the bigger stoner rock acts of the 90's. The production is close to perfect thanks to Entombed's Alex Hellid who not only produced the album but also wrote some lyrics and music as well as releases it through his own label Muse Entity Records. The guys of Entombed have always had a great taste as it comes to music and this time Alex has really struck gold because Misdemeanor is to the best of my knowledge the best all-female act I have ever heard. Not only are they skilled musicians but they also have a very good vocalist in the band who goes by the name Vera Olofsson. This is one of the hottest names on the Swedish heavy music scene at the moment and if you are into Black Sabbath tinged stoner rock with a nice groove and powerful vocals you would definitely want to check out Misdemeanor because they simply rock! Stand-out tracks: "Let Me Know", "Mastery", "Trust".
