After a seven months long delay due to the lack of professionalism shown by a certain South American printing company the Swedish black metallers Misericordia are finally able to unleash their debut full-length album. "Dechristianize" was chosen as the title of this album in the very beginning of the band's career but Glen Benton and Vital Remains used the title for their latest album last year. Enought said about this matter, let's get started on the music itself which is the reason why you write reviews in the first place. Once again the band worked in the Endarker studio together with ex-Marduk member Magnus "Devo" Andersson. Compared to their mini album "Erase The Skies" from 2002 this recording shows a band that has taken the next step in a promising underground career. First of all the production is better this time with a clearer and more powerful sound well suited for their music. Second, they have put more thought into the song writing process, resulting in more diverse songs. This album is also more technical than the previous material from the band which I truely appreciate. As if this wasn't enough the vocalist is also doing his job better, bringing out the most of his voice and alternating between black metal screams and darker, more ominous growling. Misericordia is definitely one of the most promising black metal bands of the younger generation that Sweden has to offer at the moment. They have so far only played nationally but hopefully they will start conquering European stages soon. Highly recommended for anyone into Swedish black metal.
