REVIEW: Miserys Omen - Promo 2000 (demo) Self-financed, 2000
4/10
Miserys Omen - Promo 2000 (demo) - cover art Miserys Omen is a three-piece band out of Highgate, Australia. They have been alive for about a year now and this is their first demo through which they hope to get the attention of a record label. The music they are playing is very doomy, sad and melancholic black metal, often slow but also with faster traditional black metal passages. The vocals are a little strange with both some kind of twisted screams and the ordinary screeching. Aside from the gloomy and even beautiful guitar solos this demo does not contain much of excitement and surprise but with those solos in mind the band could have the potential to create something a lot better than this. As this is a seld-produced demo-tape there is not much to be said about the production since there is no way you can make a demo sound really good without the money to it. I just wish they could put away those weird screams since they, at least at this level, only make an annoying impression. They should also try to make the music slightly more varied and perhaps also melodic but they are on a good way with those nice guitar solos.
