Mnemic is one of a handful of young Danish bands who has reached out to an international audience during the last couple of years to show the world that the north of Europe is not all about Finland, Norway and Sweden. This is the follow-up to last year's debut album "Mechanical Spin Phenomena" and the road they walk upon is the same as before, adding an industrial touch to modern death / thrash metal riffs in the Soilwork / In Flames domain. I would like to refer to their music as neo-thrash because of the use of semi-clean vocals and more American sounding heavy rock elements for choruses. From time to time this mix offers the listener a very intense and interesting experience like in the second track "Door 2.12" which displays all the trademarks of the band in a very nice way and is one of the highlights of the album. Mnemic is part of the modern metal revolution and their futuristic approach with samples, distortion and computer enhanced music will probably appeal mostly to the younger metal fans and the older ones who have an open mind. They have put a personal touch on this album but the song writing skills within the band is not strong enough for them to leave truely memorable moments etched into the mind of the beholder. They repeat themselves a little bit too much but this is music filled with energy and definitely worth giving a spin or two before making a decision of your own. Super production as always with Nuclear Blast releases.
