In the nu-metal scene there
are numerous bands who do nothing but repeat what others have done before with
simple heavy riffs and melodic vocal lines and now that Metallica has become
one of them it feels as if there is no future for the genre. Luckily there are
still bands who stick out from the rest though and the Mexicans in Molotov is
one of them. They are not the most productive band on planet Tellus but at
least they take their time to come up with something interesting and their
second album "Dance And Dense Denso" is for sure interesting. No matter
whether you love it or hate it you will have to admit that this is something
out of the ordinary. Molotov perform an undefinable mixture of latin music,
modern metal and disco sounds, somewhere around Rage Against The Machine meets
Beastie Boys with Spanish lyrics. I don't know if I would like to call
Molotov a groundbreaking band or musical pioneers but something that I can say
without hesitating is that these Mexican guys have found a sound of their own.
I what you have read so far doesn't spark your interest I would still advice
you to check them out because you should at least have heard them before
making up your mind about them. The only problem with the album is that the
songs are a little uneven. A few of them are great but then there are also
some that only sound silly such as "Frijolero". Stand-out tracks: "Dance
And Dense Denso", "Noko".
