REVIEW: Montany - New Born Day Limb Music Products, 2002
7/10
Montany - New Born Day - cover art This Dutch band was formed in 1996 and after recording one album on their own they have now been signed by the German power/heavy metal label Limb Music Products. What characterizes every signing by Limb Schnoor and his company is that the bands must show off world-class guitar playing and this is also the case with Montany. I wouldn't say that they have found a very unique sound but they have still produced a nice debut album full of beautiful guitar melodies and catchy choruses. The vocals sound a little foolish at times such as on "Higher And Higher" but most of the time the vocal lines sound very impressive. Just listen to "World Of Dreams" and you will see that these guys know how to make music. Montany is a rather young band but their debut album still shows a surprising amount of maturity. The album was produced by none other than the former Grave Digger guitarist Uwe Lulis who did a very good job too. If you are a fan of the music coming out of Limb Music then this album might very well be something for you. If these guys don't give it up I think they could go far in the future. The only thing I don't like is that they have a pretty lousy website but so do Limb Music...
