REVIEW: Moonlyght - Progressive Darkness Metal Disk Records, 2002
9/10
Moonlyght - Progressive Darkness - cover art I'm ashamed to mention it but I didn't know that there was such a great band in my own Country! Moonlyght really took me by surprise and the title was very attractive to me. Right from the beginning I fell in love with the medireview type of singing and the music they composed is a great mixture of Gothic and Doom knitted together with an impressive Progressive pattern. This outstanding debut album deserved a worldwide recognition and my wish is to see their next album on a major label such as Napalm Records. They present themselves with seven pieces, all but two lasting in the seven to eight minutes range. The shortest one is a real storm of a power metal tune that will shake the whole neighborhood. As far as the title track they served it for desert and it is a delicious long lasting pleasure! The vocal parts are gracefully held by a charming lady but for the male character, we are faced with a demoniac death beast who , when the side effects of the full moon vanish, turn out to be a real knight of the round table. This epic brings you through a series of intricate musical adventures with all the essential elements that makes the Gothic genre so dear to our hearts. Great Doom guitar partitions, precise drum and bass, symphonic keyboards creates a magnificient decor being only embellished by a more than pleasant acoustic section made of guitar, violin and believe it or not, an accordion that they even used as a solo instrument... My last words would be for all of you Brothers and Sisters of the Great Gothic Realm: by all means spread the word around that the new Minstrels have arrived and will take the Metal world by storm!
