REVIEW: Motörhead - Hammered Steamhammer Records, 2002
8/10
Motörhead - Hammered - cover art I have never been a huge fan of Motörhead but I do admit that they are one of the best bands in their genre and they have managed to make some great songs throughout their career. Lemmy formed the band back in 1975 and if you don't accept the fact that he has been one of the most important persons in the history of hard music you are simply lying. He was there when it all started in the UK and together with his band mates he has been releasing albums all the way into the 21st century and "Hammered" is the latest addition to their impressive discography. Just like Ozzy had a dramatic voice that fitted the Black Sabbath sound perfectly, Lemmy has the voice for dirty and heavy rock 'n roll which is one of the most important assets that have made Motörhead stay popular. "Hammered" doesn't really bring us any surprises but I don't think old fans of the band would have liked that very much. No ballads, no slow songs, only bluesy guitar driven heavy rock. "Kill The World" has some nu-metal tendencies but the album is a typical Motörhead release, nothing amazing but still very good. Stand-out tracks: "Walk A Crooked Mile", "Down The Line", "Kill The World".
