This small review has been a long time coming. I am a professional procrastinator, especially when I have trouble with something. Now what can really be said about Motörhead that has not already been said? They leapt onto the music scene in the mid to late 70's, blasting and pummeling the masses with their corrosive brand of metallic noise, straddling the lines between punk and metal... a lumbering Frankenstein's monster of biker rock and punk metal fury.
That was nearly 40 years ago and the band are still churning out records. Though Lemmy is the only original member left, the other 2 have soldiered on with him for at least 15 years. So enough history.
How is Motörizer? It's Motörhead. It's eleven tracks of "Argh!!" It's a "meaty, dangerous rock record," as their press release states. It's loud and fast - Lemmy still can't sing but his growl is unmistakable. The songs will not win any originality awards as they sound much like the songs on the last half dozen Motörhead releases. Is this a bad thing? Not at all.... But it does make reviewing a bit difficult. Motörhead are elder statesmen of metal. They are pillars of the denim clad community. They play vicious rock and roll with gas fire fury and really don't give a fuck if you like it or not, and really, how can any self-respecting metalhead not be down with that?
