REVIEW: My Dying Bride - A Line Of Deathless Kings Peaceville Records, 2006
9/10
My Dying Bride - A Line Of Deathless Kings - cover art Without ever repeating themselves, My Dying Bride has been spearheading the doom metal genre ever since taking their first trembling steps in the early 90s. As usual they do not disappoint with their latest studio offering "A Line Of Deathless Kings" through which they present nine new epics. I must admit that when I first listened to this album I was slightly skeptic. I am used to the idea of a My Dying Bride album speaking to me from the first moment but this one did not. The panic started setting in, could the legendary doomsters fail to impress me for the very first time? Luckily that was not the case as I did not wish to give up on the album. With each new listen it grew on me, making me more sure every time that they had composed another true doom metal classic. The somber, simple yet unique melodies, the monstrous heavy riffing, the touching lyrics and the clean, moaning Aaron from "Like Gods Of The Sun", it's all there. Never have doubt in the British kings of gloom as they strike again. Majestic.
