London
was always presented to us as being a cloudy place where one never leaves home
without an umbrella. These British don't try to undo the legend and actually
made rain the first element audible on this outstanding album. Much to my
amazement I was very impressed by the music from a band that I was not
attracted to with a name like this, I mean being a middle aged married man...
Anyway this band put me in for a treat. All of this beautiful doom depressing
moody music is kind of addictive. Dual type of vocals ranging from sadly clean
to disturbing death are going to describe for over an hour of dreadful
moments. I love their sound! That heavy guitar is all I needed to make my ears
saliving with pleasure! Most enjoyable and fulfilling for my stringed electric
instrument needs. Wall to wall electrification of rhythmic partitions that is
somewhat reminiscent to what I was delightfully indulging a while ago with
earlier Sabbath compositions. "The Raven And The Rose" is a much stronger
kicker with a hell of a good beat from an awsome drummer and a church-like
organ completing the euphoria coming from and going directly to hell and
heaven at the same time. Many numbers are long lasting moments of pure
aestethic agony heated at medium tempo to make you savour this tasteful eight
course of a musical meal. "Black Heart Romance" is an exception with its
5:23 running time but still is filled with great guitar riffs for a dark
romantic ballad. For the piece de résistance, "The Return To The Beautiful"
is served for your graveyard banquet. A terrifying fourteen minutes plus opus
to be listened with the lights off to fully see its darkness... Oh my god,
I'm doomed! These masters of reality are capable of expressing the painful
sadness of a dying loved one through the mean of heavy, heavy dark
compositions.
