REVIEW: My Shameful - To All I Hated Nocturnal Music, 2002
5/10
My Shameful - To All I Hated - cover art This is extremely slow and mournful funeral doom metal from this two man strong outfit from the darkest depths of Finland. This is actually a re-release of their demo from 2000 which is now brough to a wider audience by the Italian label Nocturnal Music. Funeral doom is a genre where you can not really move mountains but My Shameful unfortunately fall in the less interesting category of bands. There is not very much going on on this record and the vocals are rather weak and uninteresting most of the time. The cover art is both professional and modern looking but I don't think it reflects the musical content that well. "To All I Hated" is a tale of the end, depressing and monotonous. It may be something that could please a few black souls with a taste for the darkest emotional depths modern music has to offer but I think it lacks something to make it special. It has been done before and it is much easier to recycle than reinvent.
