REVIEW: N.C.O. - Pure Black Disease Baphomet Records, 2003
7/10
N.C.O. - Pure Black Disease - cover art This is first material from NCO that I’m in touch with. The band is from Sweden and Pure Black Disease is recorded at Abyss studios during March 2003. Material here represents classic aggressive and fast BM from Sweden, in the vein of Diabolicum, Setherial and likes in most parts, but also has a lot slower parts where it reminds me of nothing ‘cause I don’t like to listen that music. To be more correct, most songs start with these storming drums and riffs, but then there’s slowing down a bit, and again fast part, then slow, and so on through entire song. There is a entire spectrum of rhythms here, of various speeds, and it sounds good as different moods are combined nice so it doesn’t get confusing (with some exceptions, though). Entire album is packed in ok, together with interesting cover with some sick artwork and ‘personal notes’ about praising self insanity. The first thing I must complain in conclusion about this album is that I long for these fast parts as they are the best for me, looking at good drum sound and good guitars. Rest of material, although done with care and sense is not my cup of tea.
