REVIEW: Narnia - Enter The Gate Massacre Records, 2006
8/10
Narnia - Enter The Gate - cover art The white metal band Narnia unleashes with "Enter the gate" another powerful release which is – until now – perhaps their most mature one. Professional power metal with progressive touches, well placed keyboards and guitar lines of different heaviness are the keywords to describe Narnia´s style. No need to talk about sound, production or the technical skills of the members, as all these parameters are near to be perfect. Narnia presents itself on "Enter the gate" in a way that I would describe as “reduced to the maximum”. On the way to the lyrical and musical quintessence, there is no single note or word too much. Again, Christian Rivel sings his soul out to deliver great emotions with beautiful melodies and unforgettable refrains, like on the track "Another world". The ballad "Take me home" is a little bit cheesy in my opinion, but songs like "People of the bloodred cross" show why Narnia has reached the status they enjoy today. "This is my life" shows the more metallic side of the power metallers Narnia, but the real standout track on "Enter the gate" is the last track "The man from Nazareth". With a length of more than 8 minutes the song combines it all in a coherent concept: Atmospheric, emotional breaks, great vocals, touching melodies. Very well done.
