REVIEW: Naughty Naughty - Secret Hiding Place Self-financed, 1999
5/10
Naughty Naughty - Secret Hiding Place - cover art Well, the name of the band and the album cover are certainly not indicative (or flatering for that matter) of what the music is really like. I presume that most of you would agree with me that this band name would be good for an out and out glam band but Naughty Naughty certainly is not one. They even confuse us further with the 'Intro to Hell (a new beginning)' where the lyrics go "The night beckons back, and our demons attack, crippled with fear, naughty naughty is here". Not entirely sure what they try to achieve, especially since they have a long-haired monster (while on the background you can see a medieval castle) on the front CD cover. I think that you will agree with me that there are many conflicting signs here already. They bring with them some sleazy party rock songs as well as a few instrumental elements. If I have to make a comparison to a single band I think that the best one to compare them to is probably Skid Row. They don't have many out and out energetic songs but their mid tempo stuff and the more polite stuff (ballads) remind me of Skid Row. The new material that the band has sent me on CD-R seems to be way harder than this official CD release. They sound like a proper heavy Metal band now...
