REVIEW: Neaera - Let The Tempest Come Metal Blade Records, 2006
7/10
Neaera - Let The Tempest Come - cover art One year after the release of the debut album “The Rising Tide of Oblivion” the German band Neaera are back with their second album. Even though it is hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, there is something in their music that has changed. On “Let The Tempest Come” everything has fallen into place for the band and their metalcore are better than ever. The vocals vary between high screams and deep growls as they should in this genre. There is nothing innovative about Neaera, the roots are still deep in death metal and although the riffs are good they are nothing that you haven’t heard before. Still there is something about this record that really makes it stand out, after listening to it you just have to listen to it again. The tracks are all of high quality and it is hard to find something to complain about. It is not original or new in any way, but it is a great album in its genre. The fact that Neaera manage both the melodic, emotional bits as well as the brutal and heavy parts makes “Let The Tempest Come” interesting and varied. Keep an eye open for these Germans.
