One of the most unique personalities and artists of the folk / metal scene is once again back with a new album. Formerly known as Hagalaz' Runedance, the pagan priestess Nebelhexë have now chose to use her alias to represent her future musical work. Cleverly titled "Essensual", the Norwegian's most recent effort continues on the same path as before, mixing elements of folk music with experimental song writing and suggestive metal riffs. In theory being relatively calm and relaxed, the music of Nebelhexë always possesses a unique intensity rooted in the Norwegian metal scene. She is one of the few artists who manage to be soothing, intense and atmospheric at the same time and she never fails to impress me. I can't come to a decision whether "Essensual" is her best piece of work to date or not but it is certainly the most mature and it seems as if she is still perfecting her art which makes me look forward to the future. Apparently still being marketed mainly to a metal audience this is music that should be appreciated by people from all over the place. Borderless and timeless art for the open-minded.
