REVIEW: Necromantik Sunshine - The Pain Of Pleasure Cyberware Productions, 2001
6.5/10
Necromantik Sunshine - The Pain Of Pleasure - cover art Necromantik Sunshine was formed in Philadelphia, USA, by Brian Bordello who was a veteran of the local punk scene and today also runs a production company called "Transylvanian Terror". Even though you might be able to trace some minor punk influences in the vocals and guitars on this album as well he now concentrates on writing intense electronic music influenced by classic horror movies and bands like Bauhaus and Christian Death. That means that this album is gloomy and has an eerie feeling which is exactly what he wants to achieve. I am glad he formed Necromantik Sunshine because this sure sounds a lot more interesting than I suppose his old punk bands The Necromantics and Red Wax ever did. The punk music is still in his heart though and this album even contains a very nice cover of "London Dungeon" that was originally done by The Misfits (the pre-Danzig band). Sometimes there is a little bit of a Marilyn Manson wannabe feeling about the music but in the end this album leaves a pretty nice impression. If you enjoy gothic rock and lyrics about sex and death Necromantik Sunshine will probably satisfy your needs.
