All songs for this release were composed and recorded/mixed in 2002, but I guess it got released just in 2003. Nehëmah offered one of those albums you should listen to several times before deciding whether you like it or not. They offer a raw, dark, freezing and chaotic sound, with some similarities to the legendary Immortal from "Battles in the North" album. Still, although there are some sound-wise similarities, the music differs somewhat. It is raw Black Metal with strong and simple melodies, background keyboards, mid to fast tempo drums and evil vocals. The characteristic thing here are very raw guitars, so raw I guess they are incapable of playing a more sophisticated, technical solo. I want to say, probably the guitarist can play them, but thanks to the production we wouldn’t recognize it. At the same time, the sound bothers a little bit, as it overcreates the dungeon atmosphere a little bit too much, especially that goes for the fast part. As for other elements of the music, song structures are good, keep you interested all the time and other instrument sounds are ok too. Maybe some song’s playing time of over 8 minutes is too much, but maybe not. Besides the official seven songs and outro there’s also one more song hidden after a horde of short silent tracks. And as a final spice there’s a video clip done with a taste for the obscure and in ‘true’ BM vein. For the BM freak recommended.
