REVIEW: Neocrima - Indifferences Deadly (demo) Self-financed, 2000
7/10
Neocrima - Indifferences Deadly (demo) - cover art Neocrima is a band from Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, that consists of four guys in their early twenties. The band was formed in the fall of 1999 but all of the members have previously been playing in other rock and metal bands. Considering the fact that this demo was actually recorded at their home studio with only a personal computer the sound quality is amazingly good. The only thing that doesn't sound too good is the vocals. This is also the reason why there are only artificial drums on this recording even though the band has a drummer of their own. Neocrima is in its foundation a melodic and very technical death metal band but as shown on this demo they are definitely not afraid of mixing all kinds of influences into their music. The opening track is a very beautiful instrumental that displays the technical skills of the band. The second track is a rather basic death metal song but it also sounds fairly good. The third track is a slow atmospheric track which features both nice female vocals as well as the traditional growls. Then comes the fastest track, a song in true At The Gates style but also with some great Iron Maiden sounding melodies. This is one of the best, most atmospheric and emotional melodic death metal releases I've ever heard and I could have never guessed that Kyrgyzstan could give birth to a band like this!
