REVIEW: Neotruth - 3242 Short Infinity Valiant Music, 2000
7/10
Neotruth - 3242 Short Infinity - cover art I suspect that this album is supposed to be 32.42 long but I have to trust my stereo and he doesn´t seem to agree... Well, here we go then. Neotruth is a Russian band and what I really like about many of these Russian bands is that they have the capability to develop their own sound without being too similar to other bands. Neotruth is a six-piece symphonic avant-garde death metal band (or something like that...) with one female member namely the keyboard player Tatyana Rudaeva who adds an effective new element to the band, especially with the beautiful intro that will make you expect a lot more to come later on the album. The rest of the album might not be in the same division as the intro but it is very good music indeed and not the usual American Morbid Angel style nor the Swedish melodic style. Influences from the Swedish bands like In Flames might be heard in their music although the vocals are more in the Morbid Angel vein. There are also progressive elements and of course the keyboards add a symphonic feeling on a couple of tracks that enhances the music a bit. In short you might say that Neotruth has found a way to incorporate elements from all kinds of music genres and create a nice piece of musical art. It is perhaps no groundbreaking masterpiece but it is still interesting and not at all functionless. The album was recorded and mixed at Recarrion Studio in Tula, Russia, during spring 1999 with Agen Price as the executive producer.
