REVIEW: Neronoia - Il Rumore delle Cose Eibon Records, 2008
8.5/10
Neronoia - Il Rumore delle Cose - cover art Neronoia could be defined as the generic substitute for that hazy medicine the music of Canaan meant for people like me. Not a real copycat, that´s true, albeit a good choice if you are fond of ambiental stuff in the vein of these Italians. In a general overview, “Il Rumore Delle Cose” delves on the trace paved with the previous album, namely ambiental music consisting of emotional pop subtleties, accesible non-industrial samples, dwelling vocals, a slightly intentional fuzzy sound and a cold, reflective sentiment breathen throughout the recording. It´s like a semi-industrial (in the non-monotonous sense of the word) version of Canaan, where Italian language rules the vocal lines, courtesy of awesome avantgarde crooner Gianni Pedretti, and gloomy atmospheres dominate the spectre of sound, instead of rather emotional vibes unleashed by Canaan. For further info about differences between both acts, read my review of the first album, as soon as you are able to suffocate the puking whims caused by my clumsy English skills. Neronoia structures are sensitive and wise, and the length, tempo changes and arrangements of the songs are managed in quite a professional way; nothing less could be expected from these guys, several years in the scene under diverse projects on different styles. The whole impression left in the listener –at least in me- yields a better result than the debut album, more consistence in the essence and inspirational accuracy in the songmaking. Definitely, a very interesting album for any non-only-synths ambient freak.
