Continuing to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the now mighty Century Media Records, one of their more important bands is offering reissues. "Nevermore have opened their vault unveiling previously unreleased material to be included as bonus content for the... reissues of their three early releases." The self-titled debut has been reissued and remastered with a revised layout and updated artwork. This sucker now includes five bonus tracks, a bonus video, and liner notes written by Martin Popoff, which include quips from vocalist Warrel Dane about Grunge, "Evil" Chuck, and putting crowds to sleep. To quote the label, "this classic just got better." Of significance to fans and listeners are the appearance of an unreleased track, "The System's Failing," as well as a quartet of demos from Spring 1992 that show some of the transformation from Sanctuary into Nevermore, taking cues from Death as much as Testament, perhaps. That the original release was nothing more than a glorified demo (very well produced by Neil Kernon, mind you) the label was satisfied to release as-is speaks volume to the power of the band's sound. Of note is that previous drummer Mark Arrington recorded most of the drum tracks here (all except 2, 3, 5, and 7).
