Here we have 32 minutes where we enter the chaotic reign of Swedish devastators Nifelheim, that´s what this album is about: black metal with a lot of thrash elements and featuring as main trait the old school black metal feeling. “Devil´s force” includes eight songs very fast, frenzied, violent and furious, these kind of tunes that make you bang your head, alter your nerves and possess your soul for a while. The pace is often very fast and the constant full speed ahead tempo and the several drum fills provide the sonic turmoil that Nifelheim try to achieve and, in fact, they succeed. Some heavy metal elements can be found here and there, fitting very well in the songs. But anyway Nifelheim reaches a balance between chaos and order very convincing, I think. The band adorn their sound with mayhemic guitar slides and bendings, but without falling into fuzzy textures; guitars work perfectly and are played in a rather clean way. By the way, Dissection´s warriors Jon Nödtveidt and John Zwetsloot play some guitar parts of the album, so you can figure out the high quality on the six strings. The production was clean and strong, not in vain the album was recorded at Göteborg´s Maestro Musik studios. Aesthetically one could say they´re quite bold, to say the least, being as they are clad in black leather and spikes in the glorious old tradition, so far so good, but one of the bandmembers is wearing a mask à la S-M and is wielding a crucifix made up of bones...! Nothing more to say, really! Too bad Necropolis isn´t a label very easy to find in the local shops of certain countries, since this band is one of the few that maintain the old spirit without being a rip off as many bands that wander the Earth nowadays.
