Having recently parted with my long-time girlfriend I can relate very easily to what the musical genious Dan Swanö has experienced lately, having separated from his family himself. From the bottom of my heart I wish him and his family the best of luck for the future, life does not end there although it definitely feels like it at first. "Invisible" is the fourth Nightingale album so far but we have had to wait four years for this album to be finished. I can reveal to you that it has been well worth the wait because this is wonderful music. Dan has of course been involved in more bands and recordings than most other musicians but Edge Of Sanity and Nightingale are definitely the two most impressive ones. Often seen in death metal constellations lately, Nightingale is Dan's vehicle to channel his love for progressive rock and metal. Musically I would have to say that Nightingale is much more richer in textures than Edge Of Sanity has ever been although I love that band just as much. Alongside Mikael Åkerfeldt, Dan is one of the top vocalists on the Swedish metal scene and he definitely shows his skills and talents on this album where the vocal performance is one of the strongest driving forces. The opening three songs are close to perfect and although it fades slightly towards the end, "Invisible" is well worth the money. The lyrics are quite dark and gloomy but despite this there is always some kind of hope and a positive atmosphere surrounding the entire recording. Dan Swanö still has a lot to offer the world and his fans worldwide will not be disappointed when hearing the new Nightingale album.
