REVIEW: Node - As God Kills Massacre Records, 2006
5/10
Node - As God Kills - cover art Node hails from Italy, and with ‘As God Kills’ they present their fifth studio album. Packed with mean Mediterranean metal these guys have put down a respectable album and their label on the metal scene. After a sort of country-like intro, changing into the actual music by shotgun blasts ‘Shotgun Blast Propaganda’ kicks off the CD (quite an appropriate song title). From the first few notes Node reminds me off a slightly heavier version of Sepultura, which is not entirely my music, as is Node in this case. The lack of finely worked out melodies and vocal parts I can actually understand are probably the cause of that. The pounding drums and the fast guitar riffs are all put together very well, yet I cannot really get into this sort of music. The CD maintains a very thrashy atmosphere, with a little industrial feel to it every now and then. Songs as ‘As God Kills’, ‘Hellywood’, ‘Old Nick’, and basically every song are sure to create some moshpits on tour. All in all a decent album in the vein of Sepultura, Meshuggah and the likes, yet not entirely my cup of tea.
