REVIEW: Nomed - A Vision Of God Putrefaction Records, 2000
7.5/10
Nomed - A Vision Of God - cover art This is an album from a French band that is not very well known but they have been around since all the way back in 1986. They recorded a couple of demos and an EP but broke up in 1989. In 1992 the band reformed and they recorded a concept album called "Requiem", based on poems from Charles Baudelaire. In 1998 the two guitarists of the band decided to continue on their own and in June 2000 they recorded this album. The band is now back with a full line-up. Musically this is a mix of all styles with thrash and death metal as the two most prominent ones. The vocals are perhaps the weakest element of the band, sounding sometimes like black metal screeches and sometimes like death metal growling but a little too raw at times. The weird thing here is that I really like this album. The guitarwork is excellent with very technical playing. This album has a lot of pure old heavy/thrash metal riffs and a raw aggressive sound that is really unusual in todays world. No matter what kind of metal you like I think Nomed and "A Vision Of God" will appeal to you unless you hate every band without clean vocals. The lyrics are in both English and French.
