REVIEW: Nonpoint - Development MCA Records, 2002
6/10
Nonpoint - Development - cover art The American newcomers Nonpoint have only been active for a little over two years now but they have already sold more than 250,000 copies of their debut album "Statement", scored a top 10 rock single with their first single "What A Day" and toured with bands such as Sevendust, Machine Head, Drowning Pool, Staind and Linkin Park. Their second album is called "Development" and features twelve new tracks that follows the usual concept of nu-metal with melancholic soft rock melodies mixed with heavy chunky riffs. They do it well though and the thing that sticks out more than anything else is the strong vocals from Elias Soriano. Nonpoint are certainly one of the hottest newcomers on the scene but they do not bring the scene anything new or extremely exciting. A good solid release from the band but in the end it doesn't have much more to offer but a very good set of tracks meant as background music which means that it is perfect for a major company who wants to please radio and tv stations. A nice flow and well crafted music that should be swallowed easily by fans of the genre but it isn't really more intriguing than watching a "Die Hard" movie for the second time. Stand-out tracks: "Circles".
