"Inward Sanctum" and "Northern Breeze" consist of 2 musicians: Kris (guitars, vocals) and Vangelis (guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards) (CC: Who plays the drums?). The promos were recorded at "Inward Sanctum's Home Studio", while the production was done by Sakis and it is really perfect.
The reason for the existence of two different bands by only 2 persons is that they express two different music pathways. The former is more death - thrash, while the latter more black metal oriented.
Both bands are remarkable and this is enhanced by the fact that these 2 members have to play more than one instruments. As musicians they are very efficient both as pure instrument players and also as composers.
"Northern Breeze" was an expectation that became true by the release of the first demo "Legacy of Hatred". A new album is already recorded since the band members started composing music right after the release of that demo.
This Promo consists of 3 songs which are well composed and include some nice ideas. It "conquers" the listener even from the very first notes. I would say they are influenced a great deal by Rotting Christ and in a way by Immortal especially at some riffs. However they keep their own spot with many personal elements. I assume even the ones who are not devoted Black Metal fans would like it. The rhythm is in average of mid tempo, however it fluctuates, sometimes faster sometimes slower. Especially the slower and melodic parts (which literally "kill") give the sense of a calm before an oncoming general sonic storm. Apart from the very good sharp as blades guitars I like very much the drums. All songs are of high level except from the last one which becomes a bit boring at the end. Northern Breeze deserve attention and I am curious to listen to their complete release. Both promos (of Inward Sanctum and Northern Breeze) are available for 5 Euros (postage include) from:
