Nosgoth are one of the most talented newcomers of Austria, consisting of one female operatic vocalist and five very talented guys on guitars, keyboard and drums, successfully
creating their own style and individuality.
"Nevermore requiem" is their first demo, containing one intro called "Präludium" and 4 great songs that are guitar driven songs, with beautiful interludes and melodies that creep into your brain and won´t get out anymore – but don’t get me wrong:
"Nevermore requiem" is not easy-listening music, you should hear the cd twice to let all the emotions within the songs unfold. Especially the performance of the classically trained vocalist Kerstin Jantscher with her very own artistic expression needs more than one listening. The song structures are effective, all is very well dosed and indicates directions at the right places, may it be heavy, hunting guitar riffs or emotional instrumental parts. Nosgoth waive the “beauty and the beast” cliché with angelic female voice and deep male growls. The music fits very well to the sad and beautiful lyrics, that have been taken from different famous artists like Joseph R. Drake. The production is clear and well done.
Meanwhile ethereal vocalist Kerstin Jantscher has left the band and has been replaced by mezzosoprano Solmaaz Sarrafzadeh from the opera house of San José, where she has sung successfully operas like Richard Wagner´s “the flying dutchman”. Solmaaz Sarrafzadeh fits very well to the artistic claims of Nosgoth, taking the music further on a new level of excellence. Her vocal skills and unbelievable timbre could have disempowered Tarja Turunen as the queen of female fronted operatic-metal bands, if Tarja wouldn´t have left Nightwish. Nosgoth are currently working on their first full album with Solmaaz Sarrafzadeh, entitled “lines of sorrows” – check out the news section on the bands website!
