REVIEW: Notre Dame - Coming Soon To A Theatre Near You, The 2nd Osmose Productions, 2002
8/10
Notre Dame - Coming Soon To A Theatre Near You, The 2nd - cover art I have never heard of the original version of this album, but I know that it was well received and that it features a certain Snowy Shaw who I definitely remember from his drumming with King Diamond's recording and touring gang back in the early 90's. I have actually seen him in the tour for the support of the "Eye" album, which in my opinion where both very good indeed. Now this CD is being re-released by Osmose productions. It has been re-mixed, re-mastered and comes with 6 bonus tracks as well. The length of the album is now 45 minutes and thankfully there are very few week moments here. You get a highly original theatrical Metal horror musical with elements of both modern and old school Black Metal. I personally appreciate bands that manage to present something new and fresh without losing the plot either a bit or completely. Notre Dame is one of those bands and I recommend this album not just to the fans of extreme music. I believe that it can appeal to "common" Metalheads as well, provided that they are openminded enough and can appreciate music for what it is, without caring of what the label of the music style that the band plays is.
