So it has been over ten
years and look how much has changed.... fortunately Nuclear Assault still has
not. After a mutual friend approached the band members in early 2002, Nuclear
Assault decided it was time to rear it's head once again and give the world a
dose of much needed thrash metal. The reunion was set to be a short set of
live performances including Metal Meltdown, a show in New York and a show in
Massachusetts which was recorded for this album. The band realized that their
was still a demand for them to continue and this album "Alive Again" is true
evidence that it is not time to hang up the axe yet. First off, Nuclear
Assault sounds as if they have not been apart for a day much less ten full
years. Second, the selections of songs that are on the album are nothing but
the best with classics such as "Trail of Tears", "Butt Fuck" and "Hang
the Pope". It felt good to pull out the old air guitar once again and get a
slap in the face via pure thrash metal. The album starts off with "Rise from
the Ashes" and jumps right into "Brainwashed", with the "Assault" never
missing a beat. The production on the entire album is also killer with a
perfectly balanced sound and overall tone for a live release. This being their
first album back also shows a large amount of testicular fortitude or
"balls" if you may, as being live means you only get one take and there is
no overdubs or re-do's. What you see is what you get. Thankfully Nuclear
Assault has decided to keep it going and after touring Europe this year they
are set to enter the studio to begin recording new material for an album. With
this album the forefathers of metal prove they still have it, the next album
could surely prove that they still rule the world of
metal.
