REVIEW: Nuse - Hung Well (demo) Self-financed, 2003
6/10
Nuse - Hung Well (demo) - cover art The New Jersey based metal band Nuse are no newcomers to the scene but this is the first time I hear of them. Having been together for ten years now they have opened up for many high profile acts like Bio-Hazard, Cannibal Corpse, Entombed, Mercyful Fate, The Misfits, Napalm Death, Overkill and Type O Negative. I have seen people refer to their music as hardcore and I can agree with them that there are plenty of hardcore influences shining through on this album, especially when it comes to the vocals and general atmosphere, but it is definitely mainly a metal album. It seems as if there is no longer the need to call a self-financed recording a demo any longer since most self-financed material I review these days sound almost as good as a commercial label release and this is also the case with Nuse. They are releasing their new album on their own label Cornhead Records and it is available from Cdbaby.com. If you think you would appreciate some Slayer / Metallica riffing with hardcore vocals then give these guys a chance because they are good at what they do. However, it is a little too simple and conventional to keep my attention for very long.
