REVIEW: Officium Triste - The Pathway Displeased Records, 2001
5.5/10
Officium Triste - The Pathway - cover art I hear from alot of people that they prefer the early doom bands and releases than those of today. In that I mean the original Peaceville bands, My Dying Bride and Anathema and a few others. I can not argue with that, however I can not convince myself that all old doom is better, as there are exceptions. Still, I feel the progress within the genre has not really been big. Still I receive bands in my mail that repeat what My Dying Bride did 10 years ago, and actually, I can still enjoy it! Officium Triste from Holland is a band like this. They don't have a tad that is new to their 2nd album, and still I listen to it and approve. Even they have made a near classic with the song "This is Goodbye". When I approve though, doesn't mean that I ultimately can love it, but their work is good and the material decent, so what else then the sound can I complain on then ? A good job by the band, but the next time I will surely ask for more!
