The Russian quartet Offroad released their first album ‘Make It Through’ in 2002. They describe their music as Californian Rock, a description that I have to agree with. The sound is a lot like early Bon Jovi, but it is a pale and boring version of something that we all have heard before. On the fifth track ‘Don't Get Evil’ it gets a little better, but still it is just a poor carbon copy of all other 80s Rock. The lyrics are just full of worn out romantic clichés and Ivan Chumakovs voice adds a sleazy feeling to it all. At times, the music sounds like it is coming from the soundtrack to an 80s soap opera. The album hits rock bottom at the track ‘Living On Her Own’ which is probably the worst I have ever heard, at least in this decade. This is a record that not even dedicated Californian Rock fans would like, and since the music is boring and the lyrics are well-worn phrases in really bad English I would not recommend anyone to listen to it.
