REVIEW: Orange Goblin - Healing Through Fire Mayan Records, 2007
8/10
Orange Goblin - Healing Through Fire - cover art Since parting ways with Lee Dorrian's label Rise Above Records, Britain's kings of stoner metal have found a new home with the Sanctuary imprint Mayan Records for the release of their new album "Healing Through Fire". Orange Goblin have taken a few steps towards a more complex, compact and heavier sound on the last couple of albums and they have not drifted from their chosen path. Without losing any of their personality they have in my opinion become a more mature and complete band which might makes this one of the strongest albums in their career so far. The rugged and catchy vocals from Ben Ward have always been one of the main attractions of Orange Goblin alongside their penchant for memorable riffs and melodic rock songs with a 70s vibe but a notable modern edge. You can't really go wrong with an Orange Goblin album and this will definitely become one of the highlights of 2007 for any stoner and doom aficionado.
