REVIEW: Osian - The Slow Fade Of Loving Things Rising Works Records, 2006
7/10
Osian - The Slow Fade Of Loving Things - cover art The album “The Slow Fade of Loving Things” is the second full-length from the Italian band Osian. This quartet has played together since 1995 and the music on the new album is very modern with some influences from NU-metal as well as from goth-rock and thrash. The vocals in this release are mostly clean, with occasional growls and the songs are mainly well written. This mixture leaves us with a melodic sound that has a lot to offer the average listener. Aggressive passages and melancholic, calmer parts are combined to music that is diverse and, although this is nothing new, never gets boring. When you on top of this add good riffs and great hooks you get a band that has potential to gain broad exposure. Sometimes the vocal are not what one might wish for, but “The Slow Fade of Loving Things” is still a strong album. All lovers of modern metal (and probably the rest of you as well) should remember the name Osian.
