Behind the undecipherable logo of this band hides the still more undecipherable name Otkroveniya Dozhdya, Russian for "revelations of rain." This is their debut album called Mramornye Tona Otchayaniya (“Marble Tones Of Despair”) and a curious fact about this band is the presence of Ilya Remizov as the main character involved, being this is the guy responsible for doom metal merchants Solitude Productions, a label devoted to promote doom (especially Russian bands) around the globe. If Ilya is here, you can be sure this won't be a moneymaker or a rip-off, but honest music. This opus hasn't impressed me a lot though, but it's quite correct in general. It's not the typical My Dying Bride copycat and it''s obvious the will of making something varied, away from monotone slowness. All in all we can hear nicely performed songs, interesting audible melancholic bass lines, even some faster passages, keyboards, some female vocals... halfway between classic 'Bride and other slower acts, the keys and the emotional guitar chords elevate the listenability of the whole and make the sound more friendly, achieving enjoyable moments in the third song, for instance. The album bogs down as it advances, so the first tracks are the most appealing ones. To be sincere, I had higher expectations due to this fact; the second half of the album is dull and runs out of inspiration, at least for my taste. Maybe a mini-CD containing the best material would have been the best option. Another thing I think is a detail to improve are some drum fills, clearly out of tempo, too fast for the music, too many hits to play a break. Apart from this there are good ideas and the second album could bring a surprise to the fore, putting the name Otkroveniya Dozhdya as one of the prominent doom metal bands from the land of Dostoevsky.
