Paganizer - No Divine Rapture - cover art "Sweden's heaviest and most brutal Death Metal machine of the 21st century is back with the 5th deadly strike!!"

While this overview from the band's press release may not be completely accurate, this is indeed old school, brutal Death Metal. If you're like me and just cannot get enough of that Bloodbath sound, get yourself some Paganizer on the double. You will definitely get your fix courtesy of No Divine Rapture.

Quick hits: the vocals instantly recall mid-90s Illdisposed; Entombed and Bolt Thrower styled grooves abound; bass-heavy production a la Bloodbath dominates the semi-Sunlight Studio sounds; Mieszko Talarczyk from Nasum produced while Dan Swanö mastered this monstrosity; the drumming alternately invokes Autopsy by way of Murder Squad and the furious Thrash-Death style found most recently on Grimfist.

Name dropping aside, this three piece band has just upped the ante on other bands in the field. There is definitely nothing new here but it is all very well done. If you are looking for innovation in the subgenre of brutal Death Metal I will suggest that you are in the wrong business. This is for fans of all the bands already mentioned.

I am unfamliar with the rest of this band's back catalog but if No Divine Rapture is any indication, I will be checking out more selections from the Paganizer library. Perhaps you should, too. \m/
