REVIEW: Pain Of Salvation - The Perfect Element Inside Out Music, 2000
10/10
Pain Of Salvation - The Perfect Element - cover art "The Perfect Element" record by Pain Of Salvation is definitely one of the masterpieces of the prog rock universe. Not aggressive, nor too melodic the record deserves a lot of attention by every fan of the genre. The band hadn't received all the glory that an album of this magnitude could offer. Many noticed their potential but they were neglected nevertheless. Not taking the usual road, as in not adopting the usual methods of progressive music, POS delivers a beautiful and unique sound while not forgetting to put in all the important accents that usually defines this kind of rock. Clean, "light" sounding complex melodies endeavour the listener all through the 72 minutes of the album. Vocals are very nice, guitars and keyboards create a nice atmosphere and the bass and drums don't compete on taking over most of the space, but keep a solid yet still loose base for the entire thing - perfect, in other words. There are no weaknesses nor strong points in my opinion as the whole thing is just brilliantly done and there's absolutely nothing that could've been done better to make me enjoy it more. Every single instrument is worked to the max and every song has been done perfectly. Love this stuff!
