REVIEW: Panchrysia - In Obscure Depths The LSP Company, 2002
6.5/10
Panchrysia - In Obscure Depths - cover art Panchrysia is a three men strong black metal act from Belgium that began its existence in November 1998 and back then they were known as Zarathustra. After a couple of line-up changes they are now ready to release their debut album called "In Obscure Depths" which shows a band playing a very tight and intense mix of black and death metal with a strong resemblence to the Norwegian band Zyklon. Even the cover looks like that of Zyklon's debut album "World Ov Worms", only less professional. Even if there are most certainly some melodic touches laid out here and there on the album the emphasis is on intensity, speed and technical playing. The strongest component of the Panchrysia sound is actually the vocals which are done very well, once again similar in style to Zyklon (have I used that comparison before?). There is not much else to say about this album really, just that it is suitable for fans of intense black / death metal in the Emperor surroundings. I am confident that Panchrysia will grow even tighter and more intense in time for their next reelase.
