REVIEW: Parricide - Ill-Treat World War III Music, 2003
7.5/10
Parricide - Ill-Treat - cover art If you ever feel the need for good old fast and heavy death metal, this album is a safe bet. Of Polish origin, Parricide get the job done in fine form, and have a Cannibal Corpse type of sound boosted by an angry urgency some bands leave behind in their quests for "perfect" production. Guitarists Piotr and Albert start things off in Floridian style with "I Feel Nothing", then add a tasty effect to their axes for the following track, "Slavers of Infirmity". "Like the God" is aptly propelled by drummer Tomasz , a musician who fulfills his duties well on the drum throne. "Liar" seemed to be the most dynamic and unique song of the 13, the last of which is actually a venomous cover of "Hammer Smashed Face". Due to their old vocalist having left the band, there are no lyrics included in the liner notes; bassist Tadeusz is now assuming vokill duties. Parricide throw punches with all of their weight behind them and leave you bruised and battered, a trait which each and every death metal band should make a priority. [Editor's note: this album was originally released in 2001 through Surgical Diathesis Records.]
