Get ready for a new shot of relentless fury
and horrendous lyrical prose because here comes the third full-length album
from the American kings of extreme music. I doubt that the Christian rightists
in the US are very happy about this release or Relapse Records in general but
I sure am. Calling Pig Destroyer grind or death metal would not be very nice
towards them since they are one of the most varied bands in this genre ever
and this is what makes them so special. I am not a big fan of grind or extreme
death metal normally but this album has even won a sceptic like me over.
Hundreds of riffs executed at mach-speed, heavy rhythms and vocals seething
with rage done in every possible way will steal your breath away and make this
album one of a kind in this field of music. If you are into grind then you
would rather cut off your arm than lose this album once you have purchased it.
If you are not into grind then this might be a good album to start out with
because "Prowler In The Yard" is something very, very special. The lyrical
content might be questionable and/or horrendous but this is something I
couldn't care less about in this case because this is one of the best extreme
metal releases in a long time. A bit short maybe but with the amazing speed
that dominates the whole album you couldn't honestly ask for
more.
